Memorial Day Parade and Picnic

Looking for a great way to celebrate Memorial Day this year? Stop by the Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs on May 26th at 1 p.m. Guest Speaker Edyie Rob, Retired Colonel, will speak during a brief ceremony followed by a parade.

Let’s gather together this weekend to celebrate the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military. This noble tradition can trace it roots back to the 1800’s, borne out the Civil War and the desire to honor our dead. This day was originally called Decoration Day due to the decorating of grave sites with flowers, flags and ribbons. In 1971 Memorial Day, as it is now known, became an official federal holiday and is recognized as a day of prayer and remembrance. In 2000, President Bill Clinton signed the National Moment of Remembrance Act, which calls on Americans to observe a moment of National Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time.

What better place to enjoy Memorial Day with your family than in Historic Boiling Springs.  Stop on by to honor the fallen and to celebrate our freedom with fun, laughter and, of course, food.
